LEED Certification

Allied Building Corporation is a member of the United States Green Building Council, and has LEED AP professionals on staff to help manage a LEED effort on behalf of clients. We were the first construction management firm in the area trained in the Delaware Valley Green Building Council’s Green Advantage Program.

Allied takes a comprehensive approach to supporting the sustainable design process with defined sustainability goals aimed at achieving LEED certification. Our multi-step, participatory process for all team members, which includes the architect, engineers, subcontractors and the owner, can be applied to any project and is initiated upon completing a basic assessment of all determining factors. Critical to success is the identification of the owner’s objectives as dictated by the various green design options and available material selections investigated and decided upon during the design phase.

Allied’s basic approach to pursuing LEED concepts during construction consist of the following:

  • Incorporating sustainable elements in contract documents with subcontractors
  • Subcontractor / vendor training programs for LEED and Green Advantage requirements
  • Subcontractor documentation reviews
  • Integrated documentation management
  • Consideration of sustainable elements during value engineering that continues with construction
  • Development of construction waste management and recycling plans
  • Promote procurement strategy of purchasing VOC compliant adhesives, sealants, paints, carpets and building materials
  • Devise procurement strategy to maximize utilization of regional materials
  • Diligent oversight of subcontractors to ensure construction implementation is consistent with proper LEED work practices
  • Develop and implement an indoor air quality management plan
  • Occupant training on environmental requirements, and associated building systems and controls

Based on the assessment and the targeted sustainability goals, Allied will develop a comprehensive, specific Green Action Plan that ensures LEED credits are being tracked and documented, and, just as important, to make certain that valuable LEED credits are not being dropped.  With this documentation properly compiled and presented, implementation in the field can proceed and an owner can be confident of gaining LEED certification.

To date, Allied has either achieved or has pending LEED certification on several projects. This includes LEED Gold certification awarded for the core and shell of a 42,000 SF office building and LEED Gold certification for an interior fit out of 7,600 SF of office space within that building. The same building also achieved the Energy Star designation from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency because it has proven an energy performance rating of 75 or higher.

In the Experience-Selected Projects of this web site are shown selected Allied projects, including those which have involved LEED certification.
